Mission
AMELIA
Acrylic 24” x 30” stretched canvas 2016 by Nathan Katsuki
Amelia was a commissioned 24” x 30” painting made for the Women In Transportation Foundation. The original painting will be auctioned off at their International WTS Conference, with prints available for purchase.
This Charity Canvas is inspired by the global advancement of women in transportation.
Amelia symbolizes American women’s empowerment in the 1920’s, a decade marked by women gaining the right to vote, the introduction of the Equal Rights Amendment, the first female US governor, and the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, Amelia Earhart. During this time, women began to freely socialize and enter industries that were exclusively occupied by men. Amelia pays homage to women who continually fight for an equal footing in both industry and society. Painted in the timeless 1920’s style of art deco, Amelia portrays a bold and poised woman looking forward to a journey under her own command.
50% of the revenue from prints sold of Amelia will be donated to Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Foundation.
WTS attracts, sustains, connects, and advances women’s careers to strengthen the transportation industry.
